Artwork Requirements

Minimum artwork requirements for laser engraving:

  • preferably vector artwork saved as PDF / Adobe Illustrator version 12 or below, or if another vendor other than Adobe version 6 (PC only),
  • we require outlines with black/white fill where necessary - not colour or greyscale artwork (black areas on the logo will be engraved),
  • fonts must be embedded,
  • if the artwork is saved as raster graphics (jpeg, gif, png, etc.), then minimum of 600dpi resolution, at least 4X required size - again black/white only,
  • an A4 laser ( not ink-jet ) print out as large as possible on good quality paper would also be acceptable.
  • you can see from the pictures below, what quality of the artwork is preferable for best results:

ARTWORK QUALITY CHECK

Zoom in on your artwork so the fine parts (that are around 2 mm wide / high if you print the logo to actual required size) are as big on your desktop screen as the 'Vs' below and look at the quality:

Engraving Names and Sequential numbers

Guidelines for engraving individual names and sequential numbers:

  • we require the names in a *.txt format,
  • this can be done in notepad or word, not a spreadsheet form - spread sheet and table layout are not acceptable as this produces bugs in the laser,
  • after each name press return on the keyboard so they all appear in a single vertical column hard left margin and no spaces between them,
  • in word you can then save as a *.txt file, not the one with line breaks,
  • this is then fed directly into the laser without us having to proof read,
  • we normally use Arial font unless different font is requested. If you require non-standard font (not shipped with Windows and/or MS Office), please send it to us (note, some fonts may be illegal to send by an e-mail). We'll examine it to make sure it can be used for laser engraving names / sequential numbers.
